Actor, Poker Pro James Woods Escapes Massive LA Area Wildfire as Homes Around Him Burn
Actor and poker pro James Woods was one of many caught up in the fast moving and destructive Pacific Palisades wildfire. Woods confirmed he was out of danger but fled for his life.
About 30,000 residents are under evacuation orders and more than 13,000 structures are under threat, said Kristin Crowley, fire chief of the LA Fire Department.
California Gov. Gavin Newsom said he saw “many structures already destroyed.” Officials did not give an exact number of structures damaged or destroyed in the blaze.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known, and no injuries had been reported, officials said at a news conference Tuesday afternoon.
Woods posted a dramatic video of the fire burning near his home.
Woods posted via Twitter:
"To all the wonderful people who’ve reached out to us, thank you for being so concerned. Just letting you know that we were able to evacuate successfully. I do not know at this moment if our home is still standing, but sadly houses on our little street are not."
Two homes away from his own were up in flames Tuesday afternoon, he revealed.

"We were blessed to have LA fire and police depts doing their jobs so well. We are safe and out. There are several elementary schools in our neighborhood and there was an enormous community effort to evacuate the children safely. Can not speak more highly of the LA fire and LAPD."
